Alisha Young was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. She is a graduate of John F. Kennedy Sr. High School and received her degree in Computer Graphic Design from Southeast College of Technology now Remington College in Metairie, LA in 1998. After Hurricanes Katrina & Rita destroyed her home & business in 2005 she relocated to San Antonio,TX.

Young is a self-taught artist that began creating detailed drawings by the age of three. In 1996 she entered her first Amature “Juried” Art Competition and won first place. She attended the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts - N.O.C.C.A. while in high school and later studied fine art at Delgado Community College in New Orleans. Her mediums of choice are primarily Acrylic & Celluclay but she often incorporates airbrush, pastel & watercolor.

Alisha is the owner and director of ArtistiKIDS! a mobile art ministry and co-owner of Peace Keeper Martial Arts a Christ based martial arts academy with her husband James A. Pierce. Over the last 12+ years Alisha dedicated herself to the field of education, teaching visual arts, animation, computer technology & graphic design from kinder to college level, through public schools, private schools and non-porfit organizations including: KID smART, My House Inc., Young Audiences, VietNO, YAYA, Inc., and NEISD.

Alisha’s art has been exhibited in & around Louisiana & Texas venues such as, Southern University at New Orleans, Heritage House Restaurant, The Neighborhood Gallery, New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, MAUC, La Casa Rosa, Grey Wolf Gallery, Bent Easel Gallery, Guadalupe Art Dogs Gallery, Carver Cultural Center & The Carver Branch Library. She has also been featured in print publications including Gulf Coast Arts Review, Kenner Picayune, GAMBIT Weekly and the San Antonio’s Southside Reporter. She has received Mini Art Grant Awards from ArtHouse at the Jones Center in Austin, TX, SweetArt New York & the Louisiana Cultural Economy Foundation.
